All computer equipment and software licenses are considered assets. It is very easy to lose sight of how much capital has been invested in IT technology. Do you know if you are in compliance with software licensing? If not, watchdog groups like the Business Software Alliance (BSA) or the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) can investigate you for software theft. SMR can ease your mind by tracking each asset by location and by the individual assigned to the item.
Information on each asset contains:
Manufacturer, Model Number, Serial Number
Date Purchased, Warranty Information,
Maintenance Date
Any software including version/release
number
Configuration settings and other characteristic
information
Unused assets can be identified and redeployed or sold as needed to reduce TCO (total cost of ownership)
Easy identification of equipment and software that require upgrades
Helpdesk support can obtain critical information about equipment and software to resolve user issues quickly and remotely

SMR provides both onsite and remote computer support to clients. The level of support needed by our clients depends on their business requirements. SMR provides end user support in two different areas:
(Click on the Title to read more..)
Solve end user induced problems
Provide troubleshooting
Provide escalation of technicians
Provide answers to technical questions
Provide answers in a searchable knowledge base
Design and teach end user workshops
Provide detailed training sessions with user documentation
Provide one-on-one training

Depending upon your organization's needs and goals, SMR provides support that meets the client’s business situation.
The different types of support SMR offers:
One or more technicians are onsite, ranging from a minimum half-day per month to full coverage. Site visits are scheduled for the same time each week. Technicians are assigned specific accounts, so the client will usually see the same person each week.
Technicians are also able to provide computer support by logging on to the end user’s computer remotely. In doing so, the technician is able to experience exactly what problem the user has described. This makes it easier to isolate the cause of the problem and resolve the issue faster.
Authorized client users can access the SMR's web site to review technical documentation. Users may also record issues for technicians to resolve. If the issue is identified as critical and needing immediate response, the system will signal the technician via text messaging so a prompt response can be made. The online system also allows managers to track and monitor the response effectiveness of each issue recorded.
Issues can also be recorded by calling the Help Desk. Similarly with the online method, if the issue has a high priority needing immediate response, the technician will be paged and appropriate action taken accordingly.
Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if the situation is such that it needs attention prior to normal business hours. Users can call the Help Desk or log on to the UName IT Solutions web site to record a critical line-down situation. The on-call technician will be dispatched immediately.

Utilize our consulting services by outsourcing your Information Technology Project Management with our complete Information Technology package. Our IT services are available throughout Mainland United Kingdom.
Many information technology projects can last several months and can consume large amounts of resources. Without effective IT project management of technology and IT assets, schedule delays and cost overruns can easily overwhelm the Information Technology budget.
With the exception of infrastructure projects, most technology projects are driven for business process improvement. These projects are co-managed by the requesting organization and the IT department. The IT department manages all the infrastructure projects.
The complete project cycle involves these stages:
Once the decision has been made to proceed with development, that project planning and scheduling are put into motion. In conjunction with that, risk assessment tracking is initiated to signal early warning indicators if the project is moving off track. In that case, corrective actions can be taken to keep it on target and on budget.
Utilize our consulting services by outsourcing your IT Strategic Planning with our complete Information Technology package. Our IT services are available throughout Mainland United Kingdom.
Computer technology has been advancing so rapidly, and with such a short life span, that strategic technology planning is essential. It must also be aligned with the development of the overall strategic business plan. Without considering the technology plan, several business strategies may not be achievable.
The strategic technology plans created by SMR tell our clients their current technical capability, and how it fits in with their strategic business plan. The plan also informs them of their business risk due to technical failures and how the IT organization is performing overall.
The technology plan provides the business with a roadmap on where, when and how IT investment pound (£) should be spent.
Each plan contains the following sections:
(Click on the Title to read more..)
Information Technology Strategic Planning
Quarterly projections over a three year period:
Assess the value needed to reach organizational goals
Technology equipment stated in present value pound (£)
New technology equipment and upgrades stated in present value pound (£)
Software and licenses stated in present value pound (£)
New software and upgrades stated in present value pound (£)
Ongoing maintenance support hours
New project support hours estimated by project
Total fulltime equivalent IT support hours
During assessment, the client’s technology is compared with their business goals. An evaluation is made on what new technology is needed to ensure success with the client’s strategic business plans.
SMR team of professionals, with both business and technical expertise, identify where technology shortfalls exist and recommends appropriate action.
The larger a network is, the more possible failure points it has with a greater chance of catastrophic system breakdown. SMR minimizes technology risks by planning for disaster.
Failure points are identified and the ones that are controllable are eliminated by these tasks:
Develop organizational security policies
Create disaster recovery plans
Prepare capacity plans for system resource utilization
Develop end-user usage policies
Plan software and hardware upgrades and updates
Procure technology products from the list of approved vendors Review
IT performance measures for system improvements
The plan tracks established performance measures on a quarterly basis to ensure that the IT investment is contributing at the rate expected. Recommendations for improvements are made in areas where performance has fallen to a marginal or sub-par level.
